SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 29 – The maker of
documentaries about J.P.
Morgan and Rockefeller has
sued YouTube for colluding in
copyright
infringement.
On July 29, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Edgardo Ramos held a
pre-motion conference. Inner
City Press covered
it.
YouTube says the
complaint is bogus, that it
delayed because the
documentarian did not
sufficiently take into account
fair use before complaining.
The documentarian
replies that this is not now
the Digital Millennium
Copyright Act is supposed to
work.
Judge Ramos
asked questions and then gave
YouTube the right to file its
motion to dismiss on August
15.
A man named Alex
spoke up, asking Can we
respond?
His lawyer told
him, We'll do it in our memo
(due September 8).
The case is
Business Casual Holdings, LLC
v. Youtube, LLC et al.,
21-cv-3610 Ramos)
