SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 19– Dewese Hughes is
charged in a crack conspiracy.
As of July 20, he had not been
vaccinated.
On July 20,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Valerie E. Caproni held
a proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Caproni inquired into the
case, then set a next
conference.
She said
she'd like to hear by then if
there will be a pre-trial
disposition, or to set a trial
date.
She described the
difficulties in getting
juries: for now, only one jury
a day can be picked, and only
on three days each
week.
Judge Caproni
asked if Hughes has been
vaccinated.
Hearing "No," she
urged him to do it, saying
that the vaccine is being
offered in the Bureau of
Prisons.
On August 18,
Judge Caproni held another
proceeding - a change of plea
to guilty. Now the sentencing
is set for December 16.
The case is
US v. Hughes, 20-cr-536
(Caproni)
