SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 6– Sawtanter Dhaliwal
is charged with aggravated
identity theft and access
device fraud, to the tune of
$182,000 in purchases using
credit cards of
others.
On June
30, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Ronnie Abrams held
a proceeding. Inner City Press
called in to cover
it.
There was some
delay, and Judge Abrams asked
who had called in. Inner City
Press identified itself, and
Judge Abrams said thanks.
The complaint
describes a Construction
Company which was victimized,
and a "Popular Retailer."
Also, an "Online Retailer of
Precious Metals."
Things even got
as nitty-gritty as a MetroCard
used at the Air Train at the
MTA station in Jamaica,
Queens. Ultimately, Judge
Abrams set another conference.
On August 6 Judge
Abrams held another
conference. Dhaliwal has a new
lawyer, so far of only nine
days. But he's said to be
working toward a plea.
The case is US v.
Dhaliwal, 20-cr-579 (Abrams)
