Michael Farrell Sued For Beat Down By Rikers Island Guards Now Settles With 60 Day Order

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 9 – Michael Farrell sued Corrections Officers who, he says, beat him up on Rikers Island in 2019.

On November 9, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jesse M. Furman held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The parties told Judge Furman of a settlement in principle. Judge Furman gave them 60 days to reopen the case if the settlement is not consummated.

He said he only retains jurisdiction to enforcement the settlement if it is made part of the public record.

The case is  Farrell v. Correction Officer Gonzalez et al., 20-cv-976
