SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 2 – The legacy
Internet browser firm Opera is
now big in fintech, in
Nigeria, Kenya and India,
under the OPesa, OKash,
CashBean and OPay brand names,
offered through Google's Play
Store.
Investors have sued their
ADRs, for failure they say to
properly disclose the fintech
business.
On March 2,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Citibank
Global Markets has moved to
dismiss.
On March 2 the
argument was made that there
is no duty to separately
break-down reporting on
fintech.
The plaintiffs
were accused of trying to
shift to the argument that it
was future fintech plans that
should be disclosed.
The case is Brown
v. Opera Limited et al.,
20-cv-674 (Koeltl)
