SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 9 – Jorge Castillo faces
an April 26 trial for mail
fraud conspiracy and
aggravated identity theft. His
needs an interpreter and his
lawyer has
COVID.
On February 9, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Gregory H. Woods held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Castillo's lawyer
said he hopes he will be
feeling better by April.
Judge Woods,
while granting extensions,
said that perhaps other
arrangements or replacements
should be
considered.
There was
not court certified
interpreter present, so it was
agreed that Castillo would
waive his presence and not be
questioned on anything at all.
His lawyer said
that the evidence was been
collected by "contractors,"
and not the government.
The case is US v.
Castillo, 19-cr-784 (Woods)
