SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 21 – New York City
operates Launch No. 622 to
pick up bodies, dead or alive,
in the rivers. Worker Steven
C. Eckert sued, for
deficiencies in the
launch.
On April
21, 2021, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Paul A.
Engelmayer held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge Engelmayer
understandably inquired into
whether the Launch's focus was
saving still alive people or
retrieving the dead.
The included the
phrase, "who subsequently was
determined to be deceased."
The case is filed
under "Special Rules for
Seamen to Sue Without Security
Or Prepayment of Fees."
It is Eckert v.
The City Of New York,
19-cv-2825 (Engelmayer)
