SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 4 – Javier Castillo
Maradiaga arrived in the U.S.
from Honduras at 7 years old.
His parents were in the Bronx
legally under TPS (Temporary
Protected Status).
Now he has been
facing deportation, after a
2019 arrest despite the
dismissal of those
charges.
On March
4, U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge
Failla ruled that he should be
released, but not until next
Wednesday, in part to give the
US time to appeal to the
Second Circuit.
But will
it?
The case is
Castillo Maradiaga v. Decker
et al., 21-cv-842
(Failla)
