SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 4 – Kiyee Kye and
Jessica Kiyee sued the City of
New York and police officers
for being roughed up and taken
into custody while, as
essential workers, they filmed
police brutality on Bleecker
Street in
Manhattan.
On
October 4 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge P. Kevin Castel
held a conference. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge
Castel, noting that the case
is in the Section 1983 plan,
now Local Civil Rule 83.10,
asked why a request to adjourn
the conference had not been
made.
The
Corporation Counsel assigned
said he was only recently on
the case and apologized.
Ultimately Judge
Castel referred the case for
mediation on November 22.
The case is Kye
et al v. O'Hare et al.,
21-cv-3660 (Castel)
