SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 17 – On Manhattan's East
End Avenue near 82nd Street on
August 5, 2019 at 6:25 pm,
Christoph Rich in a Cadillac
struck or was struck by Raoul
Goldberger on a scooter.
Goldenberg sued in state
court, and it was removed to
Federal Court.
On
September 14, 2020 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald
held a public proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Things got real
very quickly.
Rich lawyer
Anna-Lisa Bonventre said, on
the public line, that
Goldberger's counsel had asked
for $2 million, while the
insurance carrier is offering
$50,000. She also said or
implied that Goldberg had been
using cocaine, and has a
criminal
history.
Goldberger's
lawyer asked, What does that
matter, given that Goldberger
had his kneecap smashed? And
who has a cocaine party at
6:25 pm?
Rich's
lawyer said, I don't attend
such parties, I wouldn't know.
It was said that addicts don't
only use drugs on
Saturday.
Jump cut to
December 2021 - the parties
filed a notice of voluntarily
dismissal with prejudice. The
basis or size of the
settlement has not been
disclosed.
The case is
Goldberger v. Rich, 20-cv-5429
(Buchwald)
