SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 12 – Dakwan Edwards was
charged in 2007 with selling
crack. He pled guilty on April
2, 2009 before then-Magistrate
Judge Michael H. Dolinger of
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York.
Then-District Judge Barbara S.
Jones on July 8, 2009
sentenced Dakwan Edwards to 10
years in prison in "a facility
in or as close to the NYC
metro area as
possible."
On October 4,
2017 Dakwan Edwards appeared
before SDNY Judge Loretta A.
Preska for violation his
Supervised Release by,
according to the transcript,
traveling to Cleveland to
attend "a game where the
Cleveland Cavaliers were
playing the New York Nicks
[sic] in Cleveland, and he
stupidly didn't get permission
and just went and attended the
game." Docket 687 at page
6.
Now on
February 12, 2020 Dakwan
Edwards appeared again in the
SDNY Magistrates Court, with
Inner City the only media
present (and soon after using
PACER). Dakwan Edwards is
charged with a Violation of
Supervised Release, leaving
the district without
permission on August 16, 2019.
The specifications are not yet
in PACER. Edwards was detained
on consent, pending a February
20 appearance before Judge
Preska. The case is 07-cr-3,
US v. Edwards (Preska /
Lehrburger).
