SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 9 – Tarell McIlwain was
arrested on February 7, 2015
on 142nd in Harlem, and
ultimately taken to Manhattan
Central Book and changed with
engaging in an illicit drug
transaction.
In 2017 he filed a Federal
lawsuit under Section 1983 for
false arrest, malicious
prosecution and denial of a
fair trial. His civil lawsuit
on December 9 was being tried
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Gregory W. Woods.
Schrod Bradley was on the
stand, being cross-examined
about statements he made when
deposed in 2017, about the
time of day of the incident,
what he was wearing, whether
he had participated in a
Rikers Island prison call. To
most questions he replied, I
don't remember, or, you are
trying to trip me up.
Reference was made a separate
Federal case against McIlwain,
in which SDNY Judge Paul A.
Englemayer sentenced McIlwain
as a felon in possession to 21
months imprisonment back on
March 26, 2018.
Listed as one of the
plaintiff's witnesses is "UC
308." Inner City Press will
continue to report on this
case. It is McIlwain v.
City of New York, et al.,
16-cv-3133 (Woods).
