SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 16 – Kaila Minaya
Marcano-Pena was set to be
sentenced in a drugs money
laundering case on October 6 -
but did not show up.
On October
14, 2022, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Vernon S.
Broderick held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered it.
The
defense lawyer said there had
been some mental health
issues, and that his client
would like to push sentencing
past the holidays.
The
AUSA said the commission of
the crime of bail jumping - no
new charges have yet been
filed - should not be
rewarded. Judge Broderick said
he tends to agree.
The case is US v.
Confesor, 20-cr-59
(Broderick)
