SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 14 – Doctor Neil Sayegh
sued Unam Group Insurance for
not paying out on a disability
policy.
On March 14, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Jesse M. Furman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Furman informed the parties
that when a bench trial is
requested he generally
dispenses with motions for
summary judgment, since at
bench trials he takes direct
testimony by affidavit or
declaration.
Still, it appears
that motion practice will
follow:
Defendant's
motion for summary judgment by
April 8; opposition by April
29, reply by May 9.
Judge
Furman said that if, after
filing, the parties think that
exploring settlement makes
most sense, to let him know
and he'll hold off ruling.
The case is
Sayegh v. Unum Group et al.,
20-cv-9743 (Furman)
