SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 4 –
Carmen Tavarez-Vargas, a
self-described blind woman,
sued Singer Sewing Machine
Company for having an
inaccessible website. She
presumably wanted to buy a
sewing
machine.
On April 4, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge John P. Cronan held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
This is
one in a series of ADA website
cases.
On March 22 Judge
John G. Koeltl asked about the
volume of purported purchase
attempts, and standing. Judge
Cronan said, If you'd like a
referral, just let me know.
The case is
Tavarez-Vargas v. Singer
Sewing Machine Company,
21-cv-9831 (Cronan)
