SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 27 – Omar
Rojas-Echevarria is charged as
part of conspiracy to import
cocaine into the United States
from Bolivia. He was arrested
on Colombia and extradited to
the US.
On May 27, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Denise L. Cote
held an in-person proceeding.
Inner City Press went and
covered it.
Rojas-Echevarria
was in an orange jump suit
emblazoned WCDOC. The AUSA
described audio and video
evidence, and said only four
days have run on the Speedy
Trial Act clock.
The question was
whether Rojas-Echevarria can
join the already schedule
trial of conspirators, set to
begin on October 24.
His lawyer has
another trial scheduled before
Judge Paul G. Gardephe; it
said it might be resolved. If
it is not, Rojas-Echevarria's
trial will begin on January
17, 2023.
The overall case
is US v. Vasquez-Drew,
19-cr-91 (Cote)
