SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 1 – Anthony Guzzone took
bribes while working for
Bloomberg LP. He pleaded
guilty to tax
evasion.
On January
19, 2021 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Lewis J. Liman
held a sentencing proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge
Liman told Guzzone that tax
evasion is serious, is rarely
identified and so must be
punished. He noted among other
things that people say Guzzone
is a fine chef.
He
sentenced him to 38 months.
In late May 2022
Guzzone wrote pro se to Judge
Liman seeking a reduction in
his Federal sentence so that,
in the NYS system, he can get
"good behavior credits." Judge
Liman docketed the letter and
told the government to
response.
On June 1, the
AUSA replied that "a reduction
in his sentence would result
in a benefit not warranted by
the Section 3553(a) factors."

In related
proceedings, co-conspirator
Michael Campana, a subordinate
construction manager at
Bloomberg, was sentenced on
July 24, 2020, by the
Honorable Denise L. Cote to 24
months in prison, for evading
taxes on more than $420,000 in
the same scheme. In
addition, Ronald Olson and
Vito Nigro, two managers of a
construction contractor that
performed projects for
Bloomberg, have separately
pled guilty to evading taxes
on more than $1.4 million and
$1.8 million in bribes that
they respectively received in
the same scheme. Olson
is scheduled to be sentenced
on February 3 before U.S.
District Judge P. Kevin
Castel, and Nigro is scheduled
to be sentenced on March 8
before U.S. District Judge
Analisa Torres."
