SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 29 –
Zachary Seid and Anthony
Cracchiolo were indicted for
conspiracy to commit health
care fraud and wire
fraud.
On April 6, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
John P. Cronan held a
telephonic criminal
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
indicted fraud involves the
sale of DME or durable medical
equipment, using purchased
(and fraudulent) DME
prescription including by
paying more than $565,000 to a
particular seller.
Judge
Cronan listened and set a next
conference for June 29. He
asked the parties if they'd
like it in person or by phone,
"if the Standing Orders are
still in place."
Counsel
quickly replied, virtually, it
says them time and their
clients money.
So why not
keep the Standing Orders in
place, or better yet,
authorize virtual criminal
proceedings with public
call-in lines?
