SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 19 – Dominique Norman
began working at The New
School on West 12th Street in
September 2018. She says she
noted that her colleague Amber
Crow "continued to use
sexually explicit and racist
statements in front of the
students."
She complained,
was retaliated against, and
sued. The
complaint, filed in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
on March 19 and found that by
Inner City Press the same day,
goes on to note that the
plaintiff was "hosting
workshops of topics such as
Black history and
anti-racism."
Soon, though, she
noticed that The New School
was "segregating women of
color in creating [a] new
unit." They accused her of
using the bathroom too long
which eventually led to her
getting a urinary tract
infection and IBS.
On October
16, 2020, the New School fired
her. She is suing for
one million dollars on each
claim, plus punitive damages
and attorney's fees.
The case is
Norman v. The New School, et
al., 21-cv-2453 (Unassigned)
