SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 20 – Michael Boswell,
Mark Elenowitz and two
companies called TriPoint have
been sued for fraud in raising
funds "for purported
investment in ticket reselling
enterprises involving high
profile events including the
Broadway musical
Hamilton."
On July 20
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Chief Magistrate Judge Gabriel
W. Gorenstein held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
It emerges
that the defendants are firing
their lawyer. Judge Gorenstein
asked them, Do you think
you'll find a cheaper
one? Yes, was the
answer.
The plaintiffs,
on the other hand, call it a
delaying tactic.
Judge
Gorenstein said he could not
make that finding, but gave
the defendants three weeks to
find a new lawyer or have
TriPoint found in default. A
corporation cannot proceed pro
se, representing itself
through non-lawyers.
The case is Blank
et al v. TriPoint Global
Equities, LLC et al.,
17-cv-876 (Carter /
Gorenstein)
