SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 23 – New Jersey-based
Metropolitan Exposition
Services has been sued for
withholding funds under ERISA.
On April 23 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
telephone proceeding, covered
by Inner City Press.
The
defendant MES is still not
represented by a lawyer, but
sent a principal to the
telephone hearing. Judge Liman
apologized but did not let him
speak. According to the rules,
a corporation must be
represented by a lawyer.
Judge
Liman ruled that if Defendant
has not appeared in the case
by May 4, 2020, Plaintiffs are
directed to file a motion for
default judgment... A hearing
on the motion is scheduled for
May 29." The case is Broach v.
Metropolitan Exposition
Services, Inc., 20-cv-165
(Liman).
