UN GATE, Jan 21
– Inner City Press
on 5 July 2018 was
banned from entering
the UN, the day
after it filed a
criminal complaint
against UN Security
for physically
removing it from
covering the meeting
about the UN
Secretary General
Antonio Guterres'
$6.7 billion
peacekeeping budget,
as witnessed and
essentially cheered
on by senior UN
official Christian
Saunders, tearing
its reporter's
shirt, painfully and
intentionally
twisting his arm and
slamming shut and
damaging his laptop.
On August 17,
Guterres' Department
of Global
Communication issued
a letter banning
Inner City Press
from the UN - for
life. With no due
process.
Guterres has
put the UN in the US
Press Freedom Tracker,
here.
The
head of the UN
Department
of Global
Communications
said,
again, that the UN
would answer Press
questions to the
Spokesman Stephane
Dujarric and his
Office;
Dujarric said
the same on
camera.
On January
21 before a
lame
Q&A by Stephane "French
Whine"
Dujarric in
which he
said Guterres
will fly back
and forth to
Davos to talk
about climate
change, after
the July 26
noon briefing
had no
questions at all,
video here,
Inner
City Press submitted 1506
questions,
including why
it continues
to be
lawlessly banned
from entering
to ask
questions in
person:
"There
are more than
1000+
questions
UNanswered. No
answers at all
during the
four days of
the US v Ho
trial showing
corruption in
the UN says it
all; no
answers during
the Honduras
narco-president trial
while UN bragged
about taking his
money, nor on
OneCoin.
This ban is
just
censorship -
and Inner City
Press must be
allowed back
into the noon
briefing to
ask its
questions in
person and
follow up on
them.
January
21-1: On
corruption and
Angola, on
which you
refused to
answer
yesterday,
what are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on the Luanda
Leaks exposure
of Isabel dos
Santos of
Angola, and as
Inner City
Press has
repeatedly
asked, what
are his
comments and
action on the
repeated
retweeting of
Isabel dos
Santos'
denials by his
close staffer
Aguinaldo
Baptista?
After, for
example,
exposure of
the corrupt
urban
development
project near
Luanda for
which some
3,000 families
were driven
from their
homes to make
way for the
development?
And now after
The Portuguese
bank EuroBic
has announced
it will end
its business
relationship
with Africa's
richest woman,
Isabel dos
Santos.
The bank said
the board of
directors had
decided in a
meeting on
Monday to
"terminate the
commercial
relationship
with entities
controlled by
the universe
of the
shareholder
Isabel dos
Santos and
people closely
related to
it", adding it
would
investigate
transfers
worth tens of
millions of
dollars made
by Ms dos
Santos.
Immediately
describe the
role of Angola
and the dos
Santos family
in the
campaign of
Antonio
Guterres ot
become
UNSG.
January
21-2: On
corruption and
Nigeria, what
are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
and separately
of DSG Amina
J. Mohammed on
that
Nigeria's
corruption
watchdog, the
Economic and
Financial
Crimes
Commission
(EFCC), has
filed multiple
corruption
charges
against former
Attorney
General
Mohammed
Adoke, who is
suspected of
taking bribes
to facilitate
a $1.3bn
(£845m) oil
block
sale.
Multinational
oil giants
Shell and
Eni's local
subsidiaries
were also
charged with
illegally
assisting Mr
Adoke.
Mr Adoke has
denied any
wrongdoing.
Shell and Eni
have also
denied any
wrongdoing.
The sale of an
offshore
oilfield known
as OPL 245 by
Malabu Oil and
Gas in 2011
triggered an
international
investigation
which included
Shell and Eni
along with a
number of
former
Nigerian
politicians.
January
21-3: On
Tanzania, what
are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on Tito
Magoti, a
Tanzanian
human rights
activist, who
was arrested
on December
20, 2019 in
Dar es Salaam.
January
21-4: On
Bangladesh,
what are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on that n
Bangladesh,
people who
question the
government’s
increasingly
authoritarian
rule fear they
may be next in
line to be
killed or
forcibly
disappeared by
security
forces.
January
21-5: On
Sudan,
refugees and
Niger, what
are the
comments and
action if any
of SG Guterres
and separately
USG Melissa
Fleming on
that ome 400
Sudanese
refugees
detained in
Niger claim to
have been
subjected to
cruel,
inhumane and
degrading
treatment.
They were
arrested
during the
break-up of
their sit-in
in Agadez two
weeks
ago. One
of the
detainees told
Radio Dabanga
that the
detainees have
got no defense
lawyer to
defend them.
They were
arrested
during the
police
breaking up
the sit-in in
front of the
UNHCR
headquarters.
He explained
that they were
interrogated
by police
without the
presence of
defense
lawyers. “The
media is
silent about
our
suffering,” he
said.
January
21-6: On
Cameroon, what
are the
belated
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on the new
threats by
Paul Biya's
long time
government
that it will
deal "firmly"
with those
planning to
disrupt the 9
February
elections?
There is
already a
heavy security
in the
Anglophone
regions - with
800 more
military
police
officers being
sent to secure
two towns in
the North-West
and South-West
provinces.
Cameroonians
are due to
elect MPs and
municipal
councillors.
Territorial
Administration
Minister Paul
Atanga Nji
urged people
to vote and
warned that
the security
agencies would
deal firmly
with those who
sabotaged the
polls...
January
21-7: On UN
sexual
exploitation
and abuse -
alleged - as
Inner City
press asked in
writing in
2019 without
response, this
is a request
that you
immediately

if-asked

for the report
of UN rape in

morning of
January 17 and

January
21-8: On SG
Guterres' Town
Hall in
Geneva, on
which you
refused Inner
City Press'
Dec 20
question, what
is your
summary of
what SG
Guterres said
given that
Inner City
Press has now
publishing
more of it?
Please explain
SG Guterres'
statement that
interns should
not (ever) be

this is not

the most

January
21-9: As
previously and
repeated
asked, where
has UNSG
Antonio
Guterres been
for the past
week(s), and
how much
public money
has he
spent?
January
21-10: On
press freedom
and the
Philippines -
and UN - what
are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
and separately
of his USG
Melissa
Fleming on
that In a
filing in

Rappler again

Supreme Court
(SC) to
nullify the
coverage ban
imposed on
them by

government,
the news

that the

power to

guise of

In their reply
to the
government's
argument that
the ban,
imposed in
2018, stemmed
from a failure
to meet
requirements,
Rappler said
the government
could not
"dilute the
rights of the
free press,
such as
denying access
to newsworthy
events held in
public venues,
under the
guise of
imposing an
'accreditation'
requirement."
How does this
apply to your
ban on Inner

Press?

for the

reason: Media

a formal

grounds for
this denial.
And a demand
for answer to
these
questions,
which MALU has
declined to
answer:
Who made the

Where is the

What and to
whom is the
process of

said Nji. "I
urge them to
be
