UN GATE, Jan 24
– Inner City Press
on 5 July 2018 was
banned from entering
the UN, the day
after it filed a
criminal complaint
against UN Security
for physically
removing it from
covering the meeting
about the UN
Secretary General
Antonio Guterres'
$6.7 billion
peacekeeping budget,
as witnessed and
essentially cheered
on by senior UN
official Christian
Saunders, tearing
its reporter's
shirt, painfully and
intentionally
twisting his arm and
slamming shut and
damaging his laptop.
On August 17,
Guterres' Department
of Global
Communication issued
a letter banning
Inner City Press
from the UN - for
life. With no due
process.
Guterres has
put the UN in the US
Press Freedom Tracker,
here.
The
head of the UN
Department
of Global
Communications
said,
again, that the UN
would answer Press
questions to the
Spokesman Stephane
Dujarric and his
Office;
Dujarric said
the same on
camera.
On January
24 before another
lame Q&A
by Deputy Spokesperson
Farhan
Haq (who claimed
to invite
"all" to an
annual event
Guterres has previously
tried
to get Inner
City Press
banned from)
and not
Stephane "French
Whine"
Dujarric after
the July 26
noon briefing
had no
questions at all,
video here,
Inner
City Press submitted 1517
questions,
including why
it continues
to be
lawlessly banned
from entering
to ask
questions in
person:
"There
are more than
1000+
questions
UNanswered. No
answers at all
during the
four days of
the US v Ho
trial showing
corruption in
the UN says it
all; no
answers during
the Honduras
narco-president trial
while UN bragged
about taking his
money, nor on
OneCoin.
This ban is
just
censorship -
and Inner City
Press must be
allowed back
into the noon
briefing to
ask its
questions in
person and
follow up on
them.

24-1: On
Rwanda and
Uganda, what
are SG
Guterres'
comments and
what if any
are he and the
UN doing about
The diplomatic
feud between
Rwanda and
Uganda has
spilled over
to Twitter
where top
government
officials have
exchanged
tough
words.
The two East
African
neighbours are
locked in a
row over
security and
spying
allegations.
Both countries
had agreed to
resolve all
issues between
them in an
agreement
signed in
August 2019 in
Angola's
capital,
Luanda. But
subsequent
talks have
been pushed
back a few
times.
On Thursday,
Uganda's
Minister for
Regional
Affairs
Philemon
Mateke tweeted
that "nothing
good comes
from signing a
pact" with its
neighbour.
Rwanda closed
its border
with Uganda in
March 2019 and
has restricted
movement of
goods and
people between
the two
countries. It
recently gave
Uganda a list
of 200 names
of citizens
who it says
are illegally
detained in
Uganda and
should be
released in
order to ease
tensions
between the
two
countries.
Uganda accuses
Rwanda of
deploying
intelligence
agents in
Uganda and
infiltrating
Uganda's
security
services.
Uganda has
continued to
arrest and
deport dozens
of
Rwandans.

24-2: On human
rights and
Turkey, what
are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on that as
Turkey is set
to hand its
Universal
Periodic
Review to the
United Nations
Human Rights
Council by the
end of this
month, an
Egyptian human
rights groups
called on
international
community to
hold the
Turkish regime
accountable
for “terrorist
acts”.
In a letter to
the OHCHR, the
rights group,
known as
“Hoqeqeiat”
presented a
monitoring
report that
documented the
Turkish
regime's
“practice of
state
terrorism” and
the extension
of human
rights
violations
from inside
Turkey to
abroad,
especially to
the
neighboring
countries.

24-3: On
Uganda, what

comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on reports
from
Ugandathat
Omara Bonny,
an ally of
@HEBobiwine
and People
Power
organizer, has
been murdered.
He was found
with hands
bound and his
body "bore
marks of
severe
torture."
Family and
colleagues
believe this
was
politically
motivated

24-4: Again in
light of SG
Guterres'
Geneva Town

statements,
what is your

For a young
adult at the
beginning of
her/his
career,
working with a
prestigious
body like the
United Nations
(UN) would be
a dream come
true.
And every
year, the UN
plays host to
thousands of
interns around
the world. But
how is a
person
supposed to
survive for
two, three,
even six
months without
any pay?
Unpaid

January
24-5: On
corruption and
Angola, on
which you
refused to
answer
yesterday,
what are the
comments and
actions if any
of SG Guterres
on the Luanda
Leaks exposure
of Isabel dos
Santos of
Angola, and as
Inner City
Press has
repeatedly
asked, what
are his
comments and
action on the
repeated
retweeting of
Isabel dos
Santos'
denials by his
close staffer
Aguinaldo
Baptista?
After, for
example,
exposure of
the corrupt
urban
development
project near
Luanda for
which some
3,000 families
were driven
from their
homes to make
way for the
development?
And now after
The Portuguese
bank EuroBic
has announced
it will end
its business
relationship
with Africa's
richest woman,
Isabel dos
Santos.
The bank said
the board of
directors had
decided in a
meeting on
Monday to
"terminate the
commercial
relationship
with entities
controlled by
the universe
of the
shareholder
Isabel dos
Santos and
people closely
related to
it", adding it
would
investigate
transfers
worth tens of
millions of
dollars made
by Ms dos
Santos. PwC
chairman Bob
Moritz wasn’t
the only
person to
respond to
Luanda Leaks
in the past
two days. The
board of
Portuguese
bank Eurobic,
in which dos
Santos holds a
42.5% stake,
has ended its
commercial
relationship
with the
businesswoman
and “people
closely
related” to
her. In
Angola, the
prosecutor
general said
it would use
“all possible
means” to get
dos Santos
back to the
country. Other
countries are
now poring
over our
investigation.
And she has
been charged
in Angola.
Now, A banker,
Nuno Ribeiro
da Cunha, who
was named as a
suspect was
found dead in
his house in
Lisbon,
Portugal. He
managed the
account of oil
firm Sonangol,
formerly
chaired by Ms
Dos Santos, at
the small
Portuguese
lender
EuroBic.
