UN GATE, Nov 8 –
The United Nations under
Antonio Guterres only wants to
allow media coverage by its
fans, even if many of them
don't report at all.
After having
critical Inner City Press
thrown out on July 3, 2018,
Guterres and his head of
accreditation / censorship
Melissa Fleming used the COVID
pandemic to restrict the entry
of most of those still
accredited, and limit access
to those to whom they gave
office space: state media and
retirees.
Now those
on the outer orbit of UN
sycophantry are being shaking
down for $100 to enter, by
RSVP, to vote to re-elect
those who didn't fight for
them, like Guterres' stolen
second term.
Leaked to Inner
City Press from several
disgusted members of the
United Nations Correspondents
Association: "UNCA will be
holding Elections for its
officers and board for 2022 in
November, and the UNCA
Executive Committee has
decided on the following
arrangements and
schedule. Nominations
for President, Vice
Presidents, Secretary,
Treasurer and the nine
Committee at Large members
will begin Tuesday, November
9th and will run until
Tuesday, November
16th. Due to
the current access
restrictions still in place at
UNHQ because of the COVID-19
pandemic, the Executive
Committee has approved the
following election procedures
for this year:
CANDIDACY If you
want to be a candidate, please
send an email to contactus
[at] unca [dot] com with the
subject line "2022 UNCA
Nomination Ballot" stating the
following: Name
Affiliation The Post you are
seeking (in the Executive
Committee) Names of the two
(2) sponsors from different
media organizations who are
current UNCA members &
must confirm or sign your
ballot. Resident
correspondents (white P pass)
in good standing with their
dues can present their
nomination ballot (available
in the UNCA office) from 11:00
am - 4:00 pm. For
non-resident correspondents
(green P pass) that have
limited access to the
building, UNCA will be
accepting nomination ballots
via email as explained above.
(Must also be in good standing
with their dues). The
ballots can be signed by
having your sponsors come in
person to the UNCA office OR
by having your sponsors send
an email confirming their
sponsorship of your
ballot. The final
list of candidates for the
2022 UNCA Executive Committee
will be sent out to all
members via email and posted
on the bulletin
board.
VOTING In
order to vote for the 2022
UNCA Executive Committee, your
annual UNCA dues must be paid.
If you need to pay dues for
2021 please visit the UNCA
Office with your cash or check
for $100 or use the following
link to pay by debit/credit
card.
Voting for
the 2022 UNCA Executive
Committee will take place on
Monday, November 22nd,
Tuesday, November 23rd, and
Wednesday, November 24th from
11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the
UNCA conference
room. Absentee
ballots for members who will
not be able to come to UNHQ
during the voting dates will
be available following the
closing and posting of the
nomination ballots on
Wednesday, November 17th,
Thursday, November 18th and
Friday, November 19th.
Since we do not have the
capacity or resources to
create an online voting
procedure, voting will only be
possible in-person in the UNCA
room.
For non-resident
correspondents without access
to the building, UNCA has
coordinated with MALU to
authorize a limited number of
Green P's each day to enter
the UN as long as they send an
RSVP 24 hours in advance to
UNCA and include the date they
wish to visit the voting polls
in the UNCA conference room
(absentee or regular voting
dates).
* please keep in
mind that the UN has enforced
vaccination requirements for
all media to enter UNHQ.
Final election results will be
posted on the UNCA bulletin
board on Wednesday, November
24th. " What a scam. The
incumbent candidates did not
even deign to response to a
polite letter from law firm
Quinn Emanuel asking about the
fairness of banning Inner City
Press.
We'll have
more on this.
