UN GATE, July 12
– While blocking at least
seven opponents from even
having their applications
circulated, Antonio Guterres
on May 7, 2021 held a ghoulish
one-man "debate" on the road
to stealing a second five-year
term as UN Secretary General.
Inner City Press live tweeted
it, here.
One of
Guterres' many hypocrisies is
using public money for junkets
to his home in Lisbon, while
not disclosing when or how
much it costs. He has also
been accused
by UN staff of racism, in
appointments and support of
cronies like Fabrizio
Hochschild, and banning Press
questions
on Africa.
Now, since a fish
rots from the head, Germany's
Gerd Muller has grabbed the
position to run the UN
system's long-outdated
(and many say useless) United
Nations Industrial Development
Organization, UNIDO - after a
scandal in Germany in which
"Müller is being criticized
for taking his wife with him
in government machines on
trips abroad, but forbidding
opposition politicians to
travel with him. In addition,
it is unclear how much his
wife paid for the trips. criticism
of Minister
Gerd Müller
(CSU) being
accompanied by
his wife on
trips abroad.
"It is correct
that the
minister was
accompanied by
his wife on
his travels to
Africa and in
crisis and
refugee areas,
which is
possible for
members of the
government."
The "Bild am
Sonntag"
reported that
Christoph
Hoffmann, development policy
spokesman for the FDP
parliamentary group, however,
told “Bild am Sonntag”: “There
was not an invitation during
the entire legislative period.
I have mentioned this several
times. ”The development policy
spokesman for the Greens, Uwe
Kekeritz, has not been allowed
to accompany Müller even once
since 2014, the newspaper
reported. The development
policy spokesman for the SPD
faction, Sascha Raabe, was
briefly unloaded during a trip
to Africa in February 2020
because there was no more
space in the government
machine because of Müller's
wife. According to "Bild
am Sonntag", Müller is said to
be the only minister from the
federal cabinet who took the
opportunity to take his wife
with him in the government
machine."
Another
similarity: "Speaking from a
UN climate change conference
in Morocco, Müller said "I'm
sorry, my statement was not
very nuanced." In a
speech to conservative
politicians, which was picked
up by Germany's satirical news
program the "Heute Show," the
minister accused African men
of being lazy drug
addicts. "When an
African woman earns 100
dollars…she brings 90 dollars
home. When an African man
earns 100 dollars…what does he
bring home? 30 dollars. You
can be sure of what he uses
the rest for: alcohol,
boozing, drugs, women of
course," said the member of
the Christian Social Union
(CSU), the Bavarian sister
party of Chancellor Angela
Merkel's Christian Democrats
(CDU). Müller was
excoriated on social media,
not only for his racist
statements, which he claimed
were meant to empower women,
but for the perceived
absurdity of a development
minister conflating all
African countries with a
single unit." This is today's
UN.
