For UNSC Seats Vietnam 192 Niger 191 Tunisia 191 St Vincent 185 and Estonia 132 in 2d Round But For What

By Matthew Russell Lee, CJR PFT NYP

UNITED NATIONS GATE, June 7 – The day before the elections for five new members of the increasingly dubious UN Security Council to be held in the UN General Assembly several of whose recent Presidents took bribes from CEFC China Energy and Ng Lap Seng, El Salvador announced itself as an alternative to St Vincent and the Grenadines for the GRULAC seat.

Inner City Press, banned from entering the UN by UNSG Antonio Guterres amid its reporting on CEFC and Guterres' financial links to the group, has objected the GRULAC and El Salvador letters and put them online here.

On June 7 St Vincent and the Grenadines won the seat 185 to 6. Viet Nam got 192 unopposed. Niger and Tunisia each got 191 unopposed. Only Estonia 111 - Romania 78 went to a second round, which Estonia won 132-58. But what of the UNSC's failings, for example on Cameroon where a belated meeting served as little more than a greenlight for genocide?

On May 13 the UNSC held a belated session about Cameroon, albeit an informal one with no expected outcome and notably not co-sponsored by veto holding colonial power France, hypocrisy and cover up of the UN's failure are evident, including among EU members Germany and Belgium both of which refused to answer basic Press questions.

But what about the three countries competing for the two Security Council seats of the Western European and Other Group? We'll start with Canada: "The Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Nathalie O'Neil accompanied by the Chargé d'Affaires at the High Commission of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Cameroon, on their part, were at the Ministry of External Relations to invite Came roon for the World Press Freedom Conference that will take place in London on July 10 and 11, 2019. The event will be jointly organized by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Canada." Can you say, tone deaf hypocrisy? The other two candidates are and aforementioned Ireland and Norway, on which we'll have more.

No such comparisons can be made for the next President of the UN General Assembly, a position that has repeatedly fallen to Chinese bribery. There is only one candidate, Nigeria's Prof. Tijani Mohammed-Bande, as bragged about here by "Ms Monica Gravley, spokesperson to the President of the outgoing 73rd UNGA, Ms Maria Espinosa" - that's Garces, and actually, Grayley, misreported by fully UN accredited and officed NAN (which Inner City Press and FUNCA defended against ouster, before being ousted now 314 days). And isn't it Muhammad Bande? We'll have more on this.

The May 13 UNSC Arria meeting ended without any outcome, after Paul Biya's longtime Ambassador Tommo Monthe lashed out at social media as UNSG Antonio Guterres does. Monthe told Inner City Press, as it asked about Biya cutting the Internet in the Anglophone zones, that Inner City Press could get thrown out of the UN. And it was, by Guterres, now 313 days and counting.

In the meeting, China said the Biya can impose law and order - Xinjiang style, some wondered, through Guterres' alliance with China is even larger, including as their CEFC China Energy tried to buy the oil company of Gulbekian Foundation which paid Guterres. France's Francois Delattre said his country will work with Biya.

The EU's João Vale de Almeida, who tweeted a selfie with Monthe before the meeting assuring him the EU would be support, came through. He and the EU Mission have done nothing about Guterres' open censorship. These people are killing the UN.

(Inner City Press went and began interested at the Ambazonia / Southern Cameroons demonstration in the 47th Street park, in the rain, video here.)
