COVID Smokescreen at UNESCO Belatedly Trashed by Staff Assoc Amid Guterres Scams

By Matthew Russell Lee & sources, Exclusive

UN GATE, Feb 9 –Less than ten days ago, on 30 January, Inner City Press reported the scandalous situation and exposed the efforts by DG Azoulay and her hopeless administration to keep staff and ambassadors uninformed about the COVID-19 propagation (here

Our article specifically brought to light the infection of KMI staff members and today, the International Staff Association of UNESCO sent the following message on that very same subject:

“From: AIPU aipu [at] unesco.org Sent: Tuesday, 9 February 2021 - To: Liste.UNESCO-HQ; Liste.UNESCO-FIELD; Liste.IIEP > Subject: COVID 19/VACCIN  Dear Colleagues, We are surprised that to this day, the Administration has not deemed it necessary to inform staff of the recent situation of COVID-19 cases within KMI, where a source of infection with about twenty contaminated members has been identified.  Has an investigation been carried out by the Administration to determine its cause and to assess whether all sanitary measures have been observed? We believe that it would have been appropriate on the part of the Administration, in its last message of February 4, to inform the staff of the real situation so that each colleague may act in full knowledge of the facts since, as we may recall, physical presence at the office is requested for a certain number of colleagues.  The Administration has the duty to inform and protect its staff. Furthermore, it is regrettable to note that while some sister agencies, namely the Rome-based UN Agencies, are taking a proactive approach to secure doses from the Italian government to be administered to their personnel and dependents, our Administration takes a bystander role and instructs the staff to deal directly with the host country. Signed: Maxime BUN, ISAU President.”

It is good that the ISAU President is reading our publications and is reacting promptly to the alarming facts revealed by Inner City Press, even as Guterres and his censors Dujarric and Fleming refuse to answer any questions.

What is missing in his message though is a concern about the intrigues of Azoulay and ADG/Admin Jeffreys to escape from accountability and water down their evidenced lack of care for the staff. The looming danger for both of them being the possible passing away of one of those infected, a death case would bring a hell of a problem that Azoulay would have to face it this time.

This risk is real. With more than one hundred staff members infected, several of them hospitalized in intensive care units in Paris, and one of them in a critical condition -, the UNESCO leadership is petrified and fully aware about the potential trouble ahead.

Since the outset, in 2020, DG Azoulay downplayed the coronavirus risks. By incompetence and greed, she jeopardized the lives of staff members but also of permanent representatives of member states.

Instead of taking the COVID-19 threat seriously and preparing the institution for it, nasty jokes were made at internal meetings by ADG/ADM Nicholas Jeffreys and Director Cabinet Kacyanides about the coronavirus being a “great opportunity for getting rid once and for all of ambassadors criticizing the French DG Azoulay and of staff protesting against their current working conditions…”.

For months, DG Azoulay and her popinjay Frimin Matoko, the ADG for external relations, did not bother to inform member states about the deteriorating COVID situation and considered unimportant to keep them abreast. Similarly, the Chairman of the Executive board, Agapito Mba Mokuy did not consider useful to request Azoulay to give details about the COVID situation in the organization.

Thus, member states were kept fully in the dark as usual. This is another example of how the top management of UNESCO is mismanaging the Agency and running away from its institutional responsibility while getting fat salaries paid by tax-payers worldwide.

The situation of UNESCO is obviously worrying, but it’s still not enough for the ambassadors to start rectifying the corrupted management style of the French DG Azoulay. UNESCO lost it all and reached that level of criminal foolhardiness in only 3 years of the French mandate.

Ambassadors can therefore easily imagine the consequences of another 4-year mandate. We will have more on that. Watch this site.
