Amid Burma Killing UK Brags of Web Cast As Blocks Press and Opposition to Guterres

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY / UN GATE, April 8 – After the Burma coup regime fired its New York-based UN ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun for his speech in New York in the usually scripted UN General Assembly, the New York Times reported that the speech had been in Geneva.

Seven hours later, that remained uncorrected. Still, an official of Volkan Bozkir, who in fine Myanmar fashion refuses to name the authors of the letters and CVs of opponents to UN Sec-Gen Antonio Guterres, bragged about the session.

Now on April 8, this from the UK Mission of Barbara Woodward, who referring a case of UK sex abuse in the DRC on which nothing has been done (and UN won't answer the Press), and who declined to circulate the letters and CVs of challengers to Guterres, this: "the United Kingdom will host an event for Security Council members to hear the perspectives of Myanmar’s democratically elected parliamentarians and ethnic groups.

The UK is joining with the Permanent Missions of Estonia, France, Ireland, Norway and the United States to the UN to bring these voices to the UN. The discussion will also be an opportunity to consider the increasing risks to regional stability and international peace and security as the situation continues to deteriorate.     Speakers will include:      Sai Sam Kham, scholar and civil society leader, will brief on the impact of the coup on conflict dynamics and ethnic communities in Myanmar.      Daw Zin Mar Aung will brief on the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) perspective on ways forward following the release of the Federal Democracy Charter.     Richard Horsey, International Crisis Group, will brief on the risks the military coup presents for further bloodshed, economic damage, humanitarian emergency, refugee flight to neighbouring countries and for regional stability and international peace and security.      H.E. Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the UN will also take part." Watch this site -

Accountable? While Guterres covers up for his cronies like Hochschild and Paul Biya? While Guterres himself tries to steal a second term by blocking all opponents, without any legal basis.

On March 5, this dodging from UK Ambassador Barbara Woodward, who colluded in the ban of Inner City Press for all of February as President of the UN Security Council and didn't answer Inner City Press' written questions on the UK's failures in Cameroon: "you don't see China and Russia as presenting roadblocks to any consensus position?      As I said earlier, we're in discussion with partners about a Council product, but it's important that the Council speak with one voice. So that's what we'll be pursuing."

  Corrupt censors. Hypocrites.

After Guterres and his spokespeople dodged about who is Burma's ambassador -- eager to get China's support for a second term, taking the US for granted -- this from the US Mission: "Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield met virtually this afternoon with Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the UN. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield commended Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun for his courageous and compassionate statement at the UN General Assembly informal meeting on Burma last week and expressed the United States’ support for the people of Burma and the restoration of the democratically-elected government."

Dujarric, while taking public money to work for the UN, says he is the spokesman for the incumbent, like part of a political campaign. We'll have more on this.
