UN GATE, Oct 12 –
Amid budget shortfalls in
countries all over the world,
UN Secretary General Antonio
Guterres on October 12 asked
for $3 billion, including
specifically for propaganda.
The
request was made in a speech
to the UN Budget Committee,
which whose Cameroonian chair
Guterres made a deal for
silence on the slaughter of
civilians since 2018. That
year, Guterres had Inner City
Press roughed up as it covered
the Committee and its chair
from Cameroon, video here,
and banned since.
Here's
from Guterres' October 12
speech:
"To fully
implement the mandates
entrusted to us, we will
require a total of US$2.99
billion... The proposals
include resources for new and
expanded mandates and
directives by the General
Assembly, in particular for
the Office of the High
Representative for the Least
Developed Countries,
Landlocked Developing
Countries and Small Island
Developing States, the human
rights treaty body system and
the expansion of the
ACABQ.
Last year, I proposed an
increase of funding by $3.3
million, or about ten per
cent, for technical
cooperation projects... $1.9
million to deliver a new
global communications strategy
for the United
Nations.
The COVID-19 crisis shows us
more than ever the need for
authoritative communications
from the United Nations,
countering misinformation and
promoting
solidarity.
With your support, we can use
additional resources to
acquire new communications
tools and technologies; train
staff, particularly in digital
storytelling; and expand our
reach and impact in multiple
languages."
As we have report, this
is the propaganda program of
Melissa Fleming, who not only
has kept Inner City Press
banned over 830 days, but
refuses to even respond and
explain why.
Until
Guterres changes or is gone,
#DefundTheUN.
