UN GATE, Oct 12 –
Amid human rights violations
including by government forces
in the Sahel and next door
Cameroon, on October 12 there
was an event in Brussels
entitled, "Protection of
civilians in the Central Sahel
context: A mirage in the
desert or a dream within our
reach?"
Inner City Press had a
question, and so Zoom-ed in
and asked, "The speaker said
the UNSC is a venue to hold
human rights abusers
accountable. But the May 2020
report to the UNSC on G5 Sahel
didn't mention government
killing, as they don't on
Cameroon. What is France's
role in these reports?
-Matthew Russell Lee, Inner
City Press."
The speakers
included
Vianney
Bisimwa, who
is Sahel
Regional
Director at
CIVIC (the
Center for
Civilians in
Conflict);
General
Mohamed Znagui
Sid'Ahmed Ely,
of the G5
Sahel
Executive
Secretariat;
and Professor
Khalid Ikhiri,
Chairperson of
the Niger
National Human
Rights
Commission.
There were
also Mostapha
Modzoumi and
Julien
Attakla-Origone.
The
panelist(s) said this was a
"geo-political" question.

Yes. But at least they took it
- unlike the UN of Antonio
Guterres and Lacroix, which
has banned Inner City Press
for 832 days and counting,
corrupt.
