UN GATE, July 10
– UN Spokesman Stephane
Dujarric was asked on July 10,
"What is the
Secretary‑General's view on
journalists being investigated
by police for conducting
nothing other than
journalism?"
Without irony,
Dujarric said, "Journalists
need to be allowed to do their
work in freedom, free from
harassment. And I think,
especially at a time when we
see this global pandemic, when
we've seen the risks that it
has towards the lessening of
the civic space, harsh words
towards the media in many
different parts of the world,
it's very important that we
all stand up for the right of
journalists to do their
work."
But this is the
same Dujarric who, on behalf
of SG Antonio Guterres,
arranged for the roughing up
and ouster of Inner City Press
on July 3, 2018 - and then
lied that there would be a
review, and that he would
answer questions. Video here.
Further irony,
the question was asked by
James Bays of Al Jazeera, who
after Inner City Press in late
June 2018 questioned the
private briefing he was
getting from Dujarric,
complained to Melissa
Fleming's MALU and asked for
Inner City Press to be ousted
- and roughed up. This is the
hypocrisy and corruption of
today's UN. Watch this
