After North Korea Fires Missiles Deference To UN Rules Ignores Corruption of SG Guterres

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon  Scope
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - CJR - PFT

UN GATE, March 23 – After North Korea fired missiles over the weekend, on March 23 senior US Administration officials held an embargoed press briefing in which they repeatedly emphasized that the missiles did not violate UN rules.

Really? Does that mean they are benign, or the the UN under China-bribed Anotonio Guterres is benighted?

Just as, this month, it is aburd to posit a UN role in cleaning up corruption in Honduras as demonstrated in the SDNY trial Inner City Press covered daily, picked up in France24, AFP and Switzerland, so rely on Guterres' UN on North Korea would be senseless.

Faced with the Coronavirus crisis that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at first tried to cover up, as he did the UN bribes of convicted CEFC China Energy, the UN Security Council went virtual.

The Security Council is increasingly a platform for China. Other members, which purport to care about press freedom and transparency but did nothing when UNSG Guterres had Inner City Press roughed up and banned, now 892 days, are reduced to canned statements, which banned Inner City Press streamed here, concluding: "One day after we celebrated International Human Rights Day, we also express our gratitude for the work of the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the DPRK and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and ongoing reporting by non-governmental organizations, to bring to light the DPRK’s malign actions. To conclude, we urge the DPRK to end its human rights violations, engage credibly with the international community on its human rights record and to allow the UN human rights mechanisms free and unhindered access to the country." Commissioner Bachelet has done nothing about Guterres' censorship (she may not be a doctor - the UN hasn't answered); the Special Rapporteurs, even when one like David Kaye asks, do not follow up or accomplish anything. Today's UN is a hothouse of hypocrisy.

Just as CEFC China Energy used Guterres' UN to pay bribes to President of the General Assembly Sam Kutesa for oil and bank deals in Uganda, and brought a box of cash and offered weapons to Chad's Idriss Deby for an oil concession, China's deals in the DRC have now been taken private with the complicity of other UNSC members.

This is Guterres UN - a place of corruption and censorship of Press, from which Dujarric, Guterres and Melissa Fleming have banned Inner City Press now 628 days.

Even as we cover the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in which CEFC's Patrick Ho was convicted, we will not rest. Watch this site - but not, apparently, UNTV except for Dujarric's social club of censorship "noon briefings."
