SDNY COURTHOUSE,

What
are the
qualifications
for a United
Nations
representative
in Washington?
Apparently,
being a censor
and a
hypocrite.
Last
week, with
Inner City
Press still
banned from
the UN for its
questions and
reporting, it
emerged that
the UN's
Deputy
Director
position in
Washington was
handed to
Brenden Varma,
a long time
spokesperson
in New York.
He announced
it:
Brenden
Varma "I’m
happy to
announce that
I’ll be moving
to Washington,
DC, next month
to serve as
Deputy
Director of
UNinWashington"
But
he is also a
censor - and a
hypocrite.
In mid 2018,
when Varma was
the
spokesperson
for
then-President
of the UN
General
Assembly
Miroslav
Lajsac, on
June 18, 2018
he wrote to
Inner City

consideration
of the
Secretary-General’s
Global Service
Delivery Model
(GSDM) report.
An advance
copy of the
relevant
report by the
Advisory
Committee on
Administrative
and Budgetary
Questions
(ACABQ) was
released last
week. As of
now, no date
has been
announced for
this agenda
item to be
introduced in
the General
Assembly’s
Fifth

this: From:

The latest is
that they are
trying to

work today
(including
consideration
of GSDM,
management
reform and
peacekeeping).

Brenden, sorry

on the
weekends, but
see news of a
deal on the
Peacekeeping
budget(s). But
nothing on
UNTV? Has 5th

plenary
actually
voted? If so,
when? If not,
when is it

then the full
GA? thanks,

The Fifth
Committee has
reached an
agreement on
the overall
level of
peacekeeping
operations
budgets and
allocation for
each mission.
Details of
each budget
are being
considered
today and the
final budget
figures for
each mission
will still be
confirmed by
the
Secretariat.
The General
Assembly will
adopt the
budgets as
soon as the
Fifth
Committee has
reached
agreement on
the remaining
issues on its
agenda,
following the
closing of the
Fifth
Committee's
current
session
Then
on July 3,
2018, while
Inner City
Press was
covering the
Fifth
Committee
budget meeting
and having
just
interviewed
the chairman
Tommo Monthe
of Cameroon,
Inner City
Press was
roughed up and
ousted from
the
UN.

Varma: Brenden
- since I am
banned from
entering the
UN, what is
the PGA's
comment on and
action on UN
banning Inner
City Press
from the UN on
July 5, today
and for the
foreseeable
future, after
it was
physically
ousted from
covering the
July 3
meetings of
the UNGA's 5th
Committee? The
issue has been
raised,
yesterday, to
at least two
members of his
staff. Please
provide
comment /
action
immediately.
Now, Varma did
not respond at
all. In fact,
he went on to
censor for
another PGA,
Volkan Bozkir,
while
preaching
inclusion,
promoting
Bozkir the
Bigot, and
more recently
Qatar's World
Cup. We'll
have more on
this. Watch
