UN GATE, Oct 1 –
In the United Nations from
which SG Antonio Guterres has
banned Inner City Press 821
days for asking about his
complicity in the killing of
civilians in Cameroon and
their mass imprisonment by
China in Xinjiang, on October
1 Inner City Press wrote to
the Russian Mission, as
incoming UN Security Council
president, with questions
including about Western Sahara
(on the agenda for month,
along with Haiti), Somalia,
etc.
Inner City
Press specifically asked to be
provided the WebEx codes to be
able to ask its questions. No
answer. Then it emailed
questions to be asked by
spokesman Fedor
Strzhizhovskiy.
But when
October's UNSC President
Vassily Nebenzia took
questions, it was from the
usual suspect, even worse.
There was a North Korea
supporter who does not have a
laptop; there were state media
including a guy who's hidden
in Xinhua's huge UN office for
more than a decade.
There were
no questions about Africa, but
for one on Libya. Nothing on
DR Congo, in the agenda, nor
Mali. Pathetic - all around.
Inner City Press live tweeted
it, here,
and will continue:
Here's
is the UNSC Program of Work
for October - with Inner City
Press banned from any entry of
the UN, pure censorship: #DRC
6th, #Mali 8th, Great Lakes
13th - then #WesternSahara /
MINURSO consultations 14th
(only Morocco media in?),
"adoption" 28th
Now a WebEx
question from a correspondent
who doesn't even have a
camera. Inner City Press has
repeated asked
@UNMediaLiaison
&
@MelissaFleming for the
codes, like it has and uses at
IMF - without any answer or
explanation. We've emailed a Q
on #WesternSaraha...
by the way,
the correspondent without even
a camera, given a question,
didn't even ask about the UN
Security Council's program for
October - which includes UN
failure locations #DRC and
#Haiti and #WesternSahara -
but instead... the Arctic.
#failNow October's UNSC Prez
is answering about his "Arria
formula" about Syria chemical
weapons - banned Inner City
Press covered that one, too, here.
Look at the
handful, many retirees,
allowed in the WebEx to ask
questions about the UNSC work
in October: a 90 year old
photographer for Ng Lap Seng,
a Lebanese socialite who
writes mostly about
restaurants, a guy whose been
hiding in Xinhua's office for
a decade Are these the
only question(er)s they can
handle? The UN is an island of
censorship, right on the
island of Manhattan. This is UNCA.
Some news in
this: @RussiaUN
says: Yes, Turkey
unequivocally supports
Azerbaijan on
#NagornoKarabakh. But that
does not mean that we, Russia,
unequivocally support Armenia"
(!)
Now called
on to ask question about UNSC
work in October - woman
without any computer, who's
said she "ate well in North
Korea." Inner City Press'
written questions to
@RussiaUN on Program of
Work, including
#WesternSahara, still not
asked, much less answered....
The woman without
a computer is asked to
"provide the coordinates" of
the pro-North Korea
neurosurgeon she has offered
to provide testimony to the
UNSC in October. 52 minutes
into press conference, no
questions on Africa other than
Libya. #pathetic
Now
@RussiaUN tells its own
media they'd *love* to have
Minister Lavrov in New York,
but he would have to be
quarantined, "it is not
realistic."
The
Program belatedly went up -
with countries on which Niger
ignored and censored
questions: Myanmar, Somalia,
where UNMAS sent local staff
to be killed, and Colombia and
South Sudan. There will be
Francophonie on September 8.
We have now written directly
to the Mission's 404 spokesman
- and will have more on this.
When Guterres'
spokes- / hatchetman Stephane
Dujarric holds his noon
briefings this month while
refusing all questions from
Inner City Press despite an on
camera promise.
And Indonesia? We'll report.
