From UNSC Prez US & Gumbo Diplomacy UN Bans Press On Qs Cameroon & Hochschild

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Periscope
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - CJR - PFT

UN GATE, March 1 – In the United Nations from which Secretary General Antonio Guterres has banned Inner City Press 972 days for asking about his complicity in the killing of civilians in Cameroon, poisoning them in Haiti with cholera and COVID in South Sudan, and their mass imprisonment by China in Xinjiang, on the morning of March 1 Inner City Press wrote to the US Mission to the UN, at its address in the UN Blue Book and other addresses, as incoming UN Security Council president, to ask questions including about Cameroon, Western Sahara, Haiti, Yemen, Honduras and Libya.

Inner City Press specifically asked to be provided the WebEx codes to be able to ask its questions: "This is a timely request that you sent Inner City Press the pass code(s) to access the USUN Mission's UNSC Presidency press briefing later today. I have questions to ask on what you will do this month about the conflicts in Cameroon, Burma and Yemen - and on the sexual harassment charges against Fabrizio Hochschild on which Inner City Press first reported in April 2019, for example - Inner City Press is asking to be provided with access / the passwords to the US Mission stakeouts and press conferences this month as UNSC President. Given your stated focus on the rule of law, you should ensure due process (and access) for Press covering the UN.  Please note that Inner City Press and I participate in the WebEx briefings of, for example, the IMF, in February and here.

As I hear that you may be moving the Council back into its Chamber, either way I would also like to ask you to instruct MALU  / USG-DGC Fleming to allow me to enter to cover it, for Inner City Press.  How can the US mission allow a US-based journalist who covers international affairs (like Honduras) to be blocked from reporting on events such as these, by your Mission, in the UN? And also (Press question) - what is the Mission's standard for circulating or blocking the circulation to member states of letters and CVs of candidates to oppose SG Guterres?    Please immediately confirm receipt, and provide the passcode or state why not."

No answer yet. Then Linda Thomas-Greenfield held her March 1 press conference with no questions on UN corruption and sexual exploitation, Cameroon, much less Honduras.

The Ambassador, propounding Gumbo Diplomacy, described a March 11 event on hunger focused on Yemen and Ethiopia. Inner City Press live tweeted, including the Program of Work here: South Sudan March 3, Syria 4, 15, etc, Yemen 16, UNAMA 23, Libya 24, DR Congo March 30. No #Cameroon, much less Honduras. No footnotes

And because we'll be covering them, apparently despite the continued UN censorship, here is the UNSG Program of Work for March, here.
We'll have more on this.
