June 11 – Former NYC
Comptroller, now Congressional
candidate Brad Lander
was in the SDNY
courthouse back on
February 12, on the complaint
following his detention in 26
Federal Plaza. Inner City
Press was the first media in
the courtroom and live
tweeted:
Defense: We
propose May 11 for trial,
March 4 for our motion. AUSA:
Schedule would be OK - but we
disagree on the law
The trial in fact
took place on June 10, and
Inner City Press live tweeted
all of it, here.
On his way in,
Inner City Press asked Lander
about FISA and the DNI. After
the trial - the ruling was put
off to the following morning
at 9 am - Inner City Press
asked him if he had prepared
for a longer cross examination
than he got: very short,
allowing an answer about
"Knicks colors." He laughed.
Then he was asked
about fellow endorsee Claire
Valdez, and his lawyer
answered as well.

On June 11 Judge
Ricardo read out his finding
of fact - FPS' messaging was
unclear, no one was
obstructed, Lander sat because
he was "tired" - which Lander
disputed afterward. Inner City
Press asked Lander if he
thought the SDNY prosecutors
phoned it in by not cross
examining him more
extensively. Good question,
Lander said.
