Peraire-Bueno was indicted for
"conspiracy to commit wire
fraud, wire fraud, and
conspiracy to commit money
laundering. The charges
in the Indictment arise from
an alleged novel scheme by the
defendants to exploit the very
integrity of the Ethereum
blockchain to fraudulently
obtain approximately $25
million worth of
cryptocurrency within
approximately 12
seconds."

suffering and making no

the US Attorney's Office wrote
in asking for a retrial as
early as February 2026 - the
defense said picking a trial
date now is not necessary, but
if it is it should be late

as 65 groups in a letter
opposed a retrial, the US
Attorney's Office wrote in to
exclude Speedy Trial Act time
to February 26, on consent.
On December 30
the US Attorney's Office wrote
in opposing the consideration
of the DeFi Education Fund's
proposed amicus brief,

On March 5, 2026
the brothers' lawyers opposed
the US Attorney's Office
request for an out of country
deposition of Justin Drake,
saying it shouldn't even be
considered until after
decision on their Rule 29

joint letter on scheduling a
retrial: "The Government
remains available for a
re-trial in this matter as
soon as practicable, including
in the last quarter of 2026
and throughout 2027. If an
additional trial is necessary,
the Peraire-Buenos
respectfully request that it
be scheduled between June 2027
and so that it can be
completed by late September
