CENTRE STREET,
Dec 17 – NYPD officers
tried to arrest a man at
Christie and Broome Streets on
August 25 "for trying to kick
commuters off of their bikes
while hanging naked from a
crosswalk pole."
He subsequently
punched officers and bit one
of them, then repeated the
gambit at Bellevue Hospital,
including spitting at
officers. Allegedly.
On
December 17 he was brought
before Justice Ann D. Thompson
in 111 Centre Street. Inner
City Press was there.
He
was brought in with a
full-face nylon mask on,
preventing spitting or biting,
and bright orange gloves over
his hands: fully
restrained.
There was
discussion of hiring an
expert; the offer seems to be
five years followed by five
years post-release
supervision, not accepted. The
case was pushed to January
14.
On his way
out, the defendant said to a
woman in the gallery, who
previously called an Orange
County judge about him, See
you Christmas, Grandma. Will
he?
