COURTHOUSE,
Dec. 22 – A man charged with
breaking into a house wanted
to be released on bail when he
appeared on December 22 before
Justice Cori H. Weston. Inner
City Press was there.
His cash
bail is current set at $5000.
The ADA said his Office has
initially wanted it at
$100,000.
The defense
emphasized that he now has
broken fingers - in fact, he
asked the lawyer to sign the
order of protection for
him.
Justice
Weston said, let's have an
interview and report about the
possibility of lowering bail.
The request is due on January
28.
Next up, with the
same appointed defense lawyer,
was a man charged with
attempted murder and
strangulation. Justice
Weston, noting that the case
dates from 2022, said it
should be speeded up.
She asked the ADA
what the offer was.
Nine
years, the ADA replied, only
to strangulation and two
counts of attempted assault,
not attempted murder. Justice
Weston ordered the People's
psychological report by
January 7.
