100
CENTRE STREET,
Dec 29 – A defendant with an
ongoing case before NYS
Justice Gregory Carro was
arrested in Maine in
mid-December for crack and
home invasion.
On December
29 he was before NYS Justice
Marisol Martinez Alonso in TAP
A. Inner City Press was there.
Justice
Alonso noted that Justice
Carro had asked the
prosecutors to produce a
signed copy of the Maine
charging document. The ADA
said these are not signed in
Maine - but that the burglary
part of the charge is a
violent felony in New York
State.
Justice
Alonso said the defendant
would be released again, on
the same conditions.
At 1 pm
Justice Alonso handed over the
bench to Justice Althea
Drysdale, who after a time
asked, Are you going to be
quiet? She then told everyone
in the gallery except a
defendant brought in handcuffs
to leave, essentially sealing
the courtroom (with no
on-the-record explanation).
We aim to have
more on all this in 2026.
Happy New Year from 100 Centre
Street.
