100 CENTRE STREET, Feb 26 –
A young man charged with shooting a gun at least seven
times by an East Harlem bus stop in 2021, sending three
people to the hospital, was on trial on February 26, 2026
before NYS Justice Robert Mandelbaum. Inner City Press was
there - in the otherwise empty courtroom.
NYPD found the defendant in Ansonia,
Connecticut a month after the shooting. But he was charged
in another shooting there, and only now has returned to
New York for trial.
NYPD evidence collection officer Michael
Raleigh testified about finding the .22 shell casings by
the shattered glass of the bus stop at East 125th Street
and Second Avenue, in front of Kloset Sports Wear.
Justice Mandelbaum asked about the next day's witnesses - three more police officers - before the defendant's prayer break at 11:50 am.
Inner City Press remains on the case.
