SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 4 –   For US v Bankman-Fried, after more than a day of jury selection, late morning on October 4 the twelve and six alternate were selected. Inner City Press live tweeted the voir dire here and more below

 All rise! Judge Kaplan (to the lawyers) Juror 37 Mr. Hammer had had a medical issues. And Ms Goldman, I don't remember her number, called my staff and expressed serious concern... Does either side object to excluding her? [Neither does... Now the 50 left come in]   Judge Kaplan: We'll put Number 50 into Seat 12, any objection? [Sidebar discussion is requested, and granted. We can't hear this.]  

[They're back. A "Ms. Duke" takes Seat 12.] Judge Kaplan: Let me tell you the questions, we'll start with seat 1. Once lawyers told me to ask how old they are. Don't answer if you don't want - if anyone cares, we'll let them guess. So it's age, education, job Judge Kaplan: Who you live with, where they work. If you've ever been a trial juror.

OK, Seat 1. Seat 1 [says name] 72, I'm an attorney, for a Japanese conglomerate, it invests in start-ups. Previously an AUSA in EDNY, and a law clerk there  Seat 2: 38 year old woman, works at KPMG

Seat 3: 39 year old woman, works at Westchester health facility, husband is a web developer Seat 4 is 32 and pregnant, due in February. Husband work in finance at Citigroup   Seat 5, Ms Patel. Seat 6, Princeton graduate. Seat 7: Woman with two children, husband works in I.T. Seat 8: 50 year old woman, 5 kids, train conductor with Metro North. Seat 9 works at Fox News. In human resources. 

 Seat 10: Sean Zimmer, 59 - says he has travel plans. Judge Kaplan sighs, says, We'll come back to you. Continued:  Man, investor. Next: Ella Cohen, divorced, new partner works at NYU. Then Andrew, 32, Cornell, computer music, worked at Google for 8 years. 

con't 47 year old woman, librarian for NYC Board of Education. 65 year old woman, Corrections Officer, husband retired construction worker. 61 year old man, USPS maintenance. Jake Kramer, Ernst & Young, "I have two roommates, much to my girlfriend's displeasure"  con't Man with three kids, his wife works at Jacobi Hospital in The Bronx.  Man with PhD in computer science, says he has a son in Georgia Tech, "the MIT of the South."

42 year old woman; man work worked at Solomon Brothers  Con't Woman, 53, with child in college; man name checking Hong Kong, went to Stanford Business School and got an MBA, also worked at Solomon Brother, speaks again about COVID concerns. 

Voice, Number 23, knows someone else in the jury pool  con't Man, Tufts then law school.  Woman who worked at Merrill Lynch, her husband is a brewer. 🍻

Man cites financial distress, one month without pay. Woman, special education teacher. U of Waterloo in Canada.  Man working as flight attendant for American Airlines   Con't Man, 73, was in textile design. His husband also retired. Woman, Delta flight attendant. Husband is a securities lawyer.

Man, 55, took early retirement from NY Comptroller's office. His wife is a partner at Holland & Knight which represents FTX and Alameda. Judge Kaplan: Have you discuss this case with your wife? A: Yes, last night. [Laughter in the courtroom]  

con't Man, would only be paid for 2 weeks of jury duty, wife is a bartender, so financial hardship. Woman, Harlem, worked at Manhattan DA and Kroll. Man works at Hilton Hotel, midnights, 44. Single, no kid Man begins, then is asked, Can you speak more clearly? 

[More questions about accent. Then:] Young woman works at supermarket, lives with parents Man, in sales for PC Richards, wife at Jacobi, no kids Lady, Westchester with two toddlers, has reached verdict, MBA from Fordham. Promotes Covergirl. Husband is a tax lawyer  

con't Lady who would only be paid for 3 days of jury duty. Lady, 31, works in the South Bronx, never on a jury. Man lives with sister who is an architect, medical scribe Judge Kaplan: Andy, can I see you for a moment? [This, we can't hear]

 [They're back.] Judge Kaplan: Ms. Cantor and three others are excused. We are now finished with the questions. Now the lawyers will get together and excuse some of you. Then we'll take a break, then opening statements.  [SBF stand up with his air-gapped laptop]   Now a 15 or so minute break before instructions and opening statements  (new thread for those) --
