COURTHOUSE,
Jan 28 –A man from El Salvador
who entered the US over the
Mexican border in 2013 was
detained by ICE on Varick
Street on January 28.
That same day he
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the US District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The
petition initially said he had
been taken to Buffalo, but
that was amended to say 26
Federal Plaza.
The assigned
Judge J. Paul Oetken, who is
pursuing a previous case in
which a petitioner was removed
to Ecuador before a stay was
signed in this case signed a
stay.
This case is
Perez v. Genalo, et al.,
1:26-cv-715 (Oetken)
