Detained So Files Habeas

COURTHOUSE,
May 19 –A man from India who
entered the US on foot in 2018
has been detained by ICP in
the Orange County Jail.
On May 19 he filed a
habeas corpus petition in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York,
where Inner City Press found
it.
The
petition says he was target
for supporting the Mann party,
a Sikh Punjabi separatist
movement. He was
released on bond and moved to
New York.
Checking in at 26
Federal Plaza in February 2026
he was detained. He says he
has memory and language
issues.
The case has been
assigned to Judge J. Paul
Oetken who has released other
petitioners.
The case is
J.T.S. v. Genalo, et al.,
1:26-cv-4168 (Oetken)
