SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
July 27 – A man from El
Salvador in ICE detention
filed a habeas corpus petition
in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, where Inner City Press
found it.
The
petition says he was arrested
and charged with driving under
the influence and that the
charge remains pending. He was
detained by ICE. He has
sued.
The case
was assigned to Judge J. Paul
Oetken, who ordered that the
petitioner not be moved beyond
SDNY, EDNY or the District of
New Jersey absent further
Order of the court.
The case is
Chaves Portillo v. Arteta, et
al., 1:26-cv-6346 (Oetken)
