Second Defendant Added by Indictment to Drug Case of Man Detained in August in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 24 –One defendant was arrested on August 23 for having sold drugs, with a co-conspirator, to an undercover NYPD officer on August 8. He was assigned a Federal Defender, and was detained.

On September 23, he and the co-conspirator were indicted, and the case brought into the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court, where Inner City Press was the only media.

Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker wheeled the indicted case out, to District Judge Lorna G. Schofield, who then issued an order for a joint letter by October 1 with  schedule for discovery and three dates for a status conference.

The case is USA v. Chavez, et al., 1:24-cr-554 (Schofield)
