Woman from Jamaica in US Since 2011 Now With US Child Detained So Filed Habeas

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Jan 6 – A woman who came to the US from Jamaica in 2011 was detained by ICE on January 5 and is being held in 26 Federal Plaza. She has a US citizen child.   On January 6 she filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.

The petition was assigned to Judge Margaret G. Garnett who ordered the Government to respond by January 9, and to appear at a hearing on January 15 at 3 pm.

"Respondents are restrained from transferring the Petitioner out of SDNY and relatedly out of the US pending consideration of the petition."

The case is Fagan v. Genalo, 1:26-cv-71 (Garnett)
