Of Quartet Charged with Bank Fraud in NY and Louisiana Vigo Pled Gets 3 Months at Home

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 2– Ronnie Sullivan and three others were charged with bank fraud, including using information from a teller to empty other people's accounts.

On August 1, 2023, Sullivan appeared in detention before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge P. Kevin Castel. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the courtroom.

While Sullivan was not the only defendant in the jury box with US Marshals, his female co-defendant was at defense table, out on bond.

She did not stand up, her lawyer said, because she had had a stroke.   Discovery was described and a next conference was set for October 11, 2023.

Jump cut to February 5, 2024, when co-defendant Rafael Rodriguez was in SDNY Magistrates Court to plead guilty. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court. Rodriguez said that in NY and Louisiana he entered a conspiracy to commit bank fraud. A sentencing control date of May 6 was set. At least two other co-defendants have plead guilty.

On April 26, the US Attorney's Office wrote in asking for an 84 month sentence for Sullivan on May 2.

On May 2, Sullivan got 60 months, with credit for time served from December 20, 2022.

On April 30, counsel to co-defendant Bertha Vigo wrote in asking for no prison time when she is sentenced on May 22, citing loss of memory among other things.

On May 22, she did not get jail time - but did get three months home home detention to start two years supervised release, and pay back the $1500.

The case is US v. Sullivan, et al., 22-cr-625 (Castel)
