SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Oct 30 – Russell Johnson was
arrested at 6 am on January
23, 2024 and federally charged
with the armed robbery of a
Bronx jewelry store more than
two years before.
At 5 pm on
January 23 he was before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Valerie
Figueredo. Inner City Press
was there, the only media in
the SDNY Mag court.
Johnson's CJA lawyer argued
that his client previously
showed up for court dates, and
has a sister with a good job
in laminated flooring and a
home that could be put up to
secure a bond.
Judge
Figueredo initially inquired
into third party custodian,
then took a break with
Pre-Trial Services in the
robing room. When she came
back, she said the US had met
its burden and ordered Johnson
detained pending trial.
On October 30 he
pled guilty to Counts 2 and 3
of the lesser included charge,
and count 4 of the indictment.
Sentencing was set for April
8, 2025 at 3 pm.
The case is
USA v. Patillo, et al.,
1:23-cr-539 (Furman)
