SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Nov 27 – A man who was charged
with having in a Bronx
apartment for distribution
five kilos of cocaine, two
kilos of heroin, twelve
thousand fentanyl pills and 10
kilos of meth came to plead
guilty on August 27. Inner
City Press was
there.
It was
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Jesse M. Furman.
The SDNY plea agreement was
for the lesser included
offense of conspiracy to
distribute 50 grams and more
of meth, with a five year
minimum sentence.
Judge
Furman said that will nearly
automatically be followed by
deportation, as the defendant
is not a citizen.
Unlike
another Chavez who Judge
Furman left out after a guilty
plea, this defendant was and
will remain in
detention.
On November 27
his Federal Defender wrote in
asking in the run up to the
December 11 sentencing for the
five year mandatory minimum,
which is said to be followed
by deportation
The case is
US v. Chavez-Perez, 24-cr-506
(Furman)
